Thunderstorms this afternoon were still widely spaced across Central Alabama, but a few of them have become strong. The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Central Jefferson County until 4:00 p.m.
The thunderstorm intensified over North Jefferson County. At 3:20 p.m., the main part of the thunderstorm was just north and west of Gardendale and moving toward the south-SW. The worst of the thunderstorm was west of I-65 North. It is moving in the general direction of Adamsville and will be crossing US-78 West. It will affect places like Gardendale, Fultondale, Forestdale and Adamsville. On its present trajectory, most of this storm will pass west of the immediate Birmingham area. It may have wind gusts over 60 mph and very dangerous lightning. Rainfall will be very heavy as the storm passes.
