RADAR CHECK: A band of rain is over parts of East and South Alabama early this morning, generally south of a line from Centre to Calera to Demopolis. This rain is in response to a wave moving along a stalled front over South Alabama… as the wave moves eastward the rain will end by mid-morning, and the sky becomes mostly sunny statewide this afternoon.

RADAR CHECK: It is a cloudy and cold day for Alabama… temperatures are only in the 40s over the northern third of the state. Radar shows a few scattered showers over the central counties moving eastward, north of a stalled cold front not far from the Gulf Coast. Showers will increase statewide late tonight and tomorrow morning as a wave of low pressure rides along the front.

ON THE MAPS: A cold front is stalled out over Southeast Alabama early this morning; south of the front Dothan reports 60 degrees, but most communities over the northern half of the state are in the 30s, and a few spots are at freezing. Today will be mostly cloudy and cool with a high in the 48-52 degree range for North/Central Alabama… the average high for Birmingham on December 7 is 59. A few showers are possible today over South Alabama near the stalled front.
